Tigers keep setting the standards

October 24, 2021

Goole U15’s travelled to Pocklington on Saturday looking to continue their excellent form against a side who similarly were hopeful for three points themselves.

Tigers again not at full strength, did not let this deter them from making a blistering start. Williams set the tone with two big tackles to lift his side into following suit and they did not let themselves down playing with amazing high intensity throughout.

Within two minutes the visitors put the home side to the sword with Robertson feeding the returning Revell

who made no mistake to give his side the lead after only two minutes.

Lycett replacing Maw in goal due to holiday commitments had an excellent game throughout, backing up his defence of Allan, Williams, Pablo and Helm.

Pocklington played a high defensive line which caught Tigers out numerous times, but a great ball from Williams through to Revell saw the forward finish with ease in off the far post.

Tigers did not let up and after only 20 minutes Leo Mollan released Robertson to put his side three to the good against their title rivals.

Goole kept up the pressure with an excellent pressing game from their midfield with captain Gibbon setting the tone to keep pushing, Jackson, Gabriel and Leo Mollan playing high and keeping the press on their opponents.

Proctor and Thompson entered the field to replace Helm and Leo Mollan and they kept up the intensity keeping Pocklington on the back foot until the break.

Half time 0 - 3

No changes were made at half time as Goole tried to keep it tight and catch their opponents on the break. This worked with ease, with Gibbon releasing Revell to score his third and seemingly put the game to bed four goals up.

Waud replaced Jackson who had run himself into the ground with Tobey Mollan slotting into defensive midfield.

Goole dropped their intensity for a while with endless corners and saw their hosts pepper the woodwork. Williams cleared well off the line and Pablo’s pace pulled his side out of trouble.

Pocklington put up great fight and reduced the deficit with an excellent finish after the hour mark, with a well taken goal.

Tigers tried to break up Pocklington’s momentum with substitutions towards the end of the game, and excellent game management from the team playing high and keeping their pressing, was first class. Goole stayed hungry and it was only a matter of time before they hit their host on the break, Robertson and Thompson’s excellent work on the left released Waud who finished excellently to give his side a four goal cushion again and ultimately the three points.

Goole could have stretched their lead as Waud saw glory with Robertson better placed and Tobey Mollan’s thunderous strike from fully thirty yards deserved better.

Robertson could have made it six but took pity on his opponents with the goal at his mercy lifting the ball over the bar from a yard.

An excellent result for the Tigers in a tricky away fixture to keep them at the top of the league.

Referee’s MOM went to Soul Gibbon.

Goole Town Tigers U15s would like to thank Louise Gibbon of The Tea Rooms at The Spa (Red Lion Street) for their continue support in Sponsoring the recent win against Pocklington. (28-10-401 SU)
